Shilpa serves as HIF’s Administrative Support & Engagement Coordinator, helping people feel welcomed, connected, and engaged in the life of the church. Through her role, she supports newcomer engagement, member connections, and the many behind-the-scenes processes that help people find meaningful community and take their next step in their journey at HIF.
Before joining HIF, Shilpa worked in India for several years in community development and training. As a Life Skills Trainer, she equipped aspiring trainers and facilitated programs that built confidence, communication, and practical life skills. She also worked with diverse communities, including a women’s shelter, coordinating training initiatives that supported personal growth and independence.
MARKETING AND COMMUNICATION COORDINATOR [su_spacer]
Fresh out of British University Vietnam and officially the Gen Z representative of the HIF team, Giang brings young energy, creativity, and a whole lot of heart to everything she does. She joined the HIF family in December 2023, went through Foundation Class, began volunteering in the office, and was offered a full-time role upon graduating in May 2025.
As the one behind the content you see on Sundays and online, Giang is responsible for marketing and communications at HIF, making sure the message of what God is doing here reaches the congregation in a way that is fresh, engaging, and true to who we are. Beyond the office, she also serves at Aftershock, the youth ministry, where her passion for raising the next generation of godly leaders comes to life. Seeing young people have a real relationship with Jesus, step up in their faith, and live out His Word boldly is something she carries close to her heart.
ASSOCIATE PASTOR [su_spacer]
Kester has been part of the HIF family since 1997, serving as an elder from 2020 and stepping into the role of Associate Pastor in 2026. Born in New Zealand and raised mostly in Melbourne, Australia, he has now spent more than half his life calling Vietnam home.
At the heart of what Kester does is a deep love for people. He finds great joy in connecting people with one another and with the Lord, and there is nothing quite like watching the nations come together to worship under one roof. Preaching and mentoring those who want to grow in that area are two things he holds close to his heart.
COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT & EXTERNAL RELATIONS DIRECTOR [su_spacer]
Emily Ngoan first walked through the doors of Hanoi International Fellowship in 2014, and it was here that she came to faith and was baptized. What began as a personal journey with God has since grown into over a decade of faithful service, both in the corporate world and in full-time ministry.
Drawing on more than ten years of experience in human resources and corporate operations, Emily serves as HIF’s Community Engagement & External Relations Director. She leads CityPartners and oversees outreach ministries including Alpha, Spotlight, Sports Fellowship, and Global Partners, with a heart for mobilizing volunteers, building strategic partnerships, and connecting the church with the wider community. She also works closely with the Lead Pastor to nurture relationships with the Vietnamese government, diplomatic agencies, local churches, and partner organizations, all in service of the city and the Gospel.
LEAD PASTOR [su_spacer]
Jacob has served as HIF’s Lead Pastor since 2005. He also founded Love Your City and Love Hanoi, and serves as Catalyst for the Lausanne Movement’s Cities Network, helping start and strengthen urban mission networks around the world. Through these roles, he loves helping form a kaleidoscopic family of God on mission. Raised in a Christian home in Holland, Jacob made his own faith commitments from a young age. Today, he describes his walk with God as learning to “trust God’s will and wisdom more,” while staying open, listening, and continuing to grow.

If the church is the head, Marian is the neck that turns it. As Administrator at Hanoi International Fellowship, she works quietly and faithfully behind the scenes to keep the church’s operations and administrative needs running smoothly, so that every ministry and every person can be served well.
Marian brings a rich and varied background to her role. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Management and Industrial Engineering and spent 31 years in the corporate world, working her way up from entry-level positions all the way to executive roles, including 12 years in the litigation support industry. When she joined HIF in September 2010, she had no formal church administration training — but what she did have was a solid foundation in operations, a heart shaped by years of equipping experiences, and the confidence that God had prepared her for exactly this.

Tomi has been part of the Hanoi community since 2010, and in that time, his heart for people and ministry has only grown deeper. Not long after arriving, he immediately started what began as a Nigerian student fellowship — a group that has since grown into the African Fellowship Vietnam, a thriving community of over 100 African migrants and international students that he continues to serve as Coordinator and Mentor. Through mentorship, tutoring, language learning support, and practical guidance, Tomi walks alongside people navigating the real challenges of building a new life in a new country socially, academically, and culturally.
YOUTH DIRECTOR, HIF ELDER, HIF ECOPARK LEAD PASTOR [su_spacer]
Peter is a pastor, teacher, and encourager who loves helping people feel seen, known, and drawn closer to Jesus, preferably with a good suit, a good laugh, and the occasional impression along the way. He describes himself first and foremost as a child and servant of God, a proud Rotterdammer, and someone who genuinely enjoys people from all walks of life.
As Youth Director at HIF and Lead Elder at HIF Ecopark, Peter serves in two ministry spaces with one shared heartbeat: helping people know Jesus, grow as disciples, and find their place in God’s mission. At Ecopark, he shepherds the church through preaching, pastoral care, and leadership development. Through Aftershock, he serves teenagers from different nations and backgrounds, which also means navigating Gen Z vocabulary, an ongoing cross-cultural challenge he is still working through.
