HIF is a Christian community of internationals living and working in Hanoi, Vietnam. We welcome all who seek to know, worship and serve Jesus Christ. Started in 1995 by a dozen evangelical expats meeting in a living room, HIF today consists of two congregations with over 500 people and 50+ nationalities in regular attendance. Love Hanoi is a campaign launched by HIF to inspire and mobilize individual, corporate and public initiatives for the benefit of the city. We all have expertise, knowledge and resources. Pastor Jacob Bloemberg, together with his wife, Linda, and his family, have lived in Hanoi since 1997. Jacob is of Dutch origin while Linda is American. First working with a Christian NGO in orphanages and other projects, Jacob became the pastor of HIF in 2005. Jacob is a graduate of Elim Bible Institute in NY, USA, and has an MA in Organizational Leadership from Regent University, VA, USA. He is currently working on his doctorate in City Transformation at Bakke Graduate University, applying his learning to HIF’s “Love Hanoi” campaign. Linda is the School Counselor at Concordia International School. They have three children, two living in the USA and the youngest a student at Concordia.
Pastor Jason Fizzard and his wife, Jill, moved from California to Vietnam in 2006. Their passion for Vietnam developed during their four years teaching at a university in Quy Nhon, central Vietnam. Since then they have lived in Hanoi, and Jason served as country director for their organization prior to joining the HIF family in 2017. Jason graduated college in California and went on to get his elementary teaching credential. While living in Vietnam, he has completed an MA from Wheaton College in Intercultural Studies & TESOL and also an MA in Applied Biblical Studies from Moody Bible Institute. He is also a graduate of the Arrow Leadership program in Vancouver, B.C. Jill spends the majority of her time homeschooling their four energetic children: Ella, Madeline and twins—Noah and Anna.
Marian Tabjan is the neck that turns the head! Marian has a bachelor’s degree in Management and Industrial Engineering. She has 31 years of corporate experience having served in various roles from the ranks to executive positions especially in the litigation support industry where she had been exposed for the last 12 years of her career. She joined HIF as Office Manager and handles church administration. Although she has no formal education in church administration, her past involvement in many church equip trainings and experience in operations in the marketplace gave her the confidence to take on the role at HIF in September of 2010 . It was also the time when she wanted to serve the body of Christ full time. Marian is from the Philippines and enjoys Saturday fellowship and bible study with other Filipinos in their Connect Group.
Oluwatomisin moved to Hanoi, Vietnam in 2010. Tomi has a bachelor’s degree in computing from University of Greenwich, UK. Prior to his role at HIF, he was the Oversea Software Business Development Engineer at CMC Software Inc. He also functioned as the main Church pianist as well as the music director at BLHM, Nigeria and immediately started the Nigerian student fellowship (one of the longest running connect group at HIF) in Hanoi. He is currently pursuing his Master in Project Management at University of Salford, Manchester, England. Married to Linh Le, of Vietnamese origin. Linh worked as the Event Coordinator & TA Manager at the British Vietnamese School, Hanoi but she is currently working on her Masters Degree at Victoria University, Australia.
Ryan Robinson and his wife Marie moved to Hanoi from the United States in 2016. Ryan passionately serves the youth at HIF and oversees Alpha. Seeing students grow in knowing who God is, who they are, and how they can serve others gives Ryan the energy and drive to serve the youth. Ryan graduated from Biola University in Biblical and Theological Studies. He is currently working on his Master in Practical Theology: Church Ministry at Regent University, VA, USA. Marie is a middle school teacher at Concordia International School. Ryan and Marie enjoy their friendships with those in the young families connect group.
Hoa was born and raised in Vietnam. She went to the U.S. to study for her bachelor’s degree in public health. After that, she came back to Hanoi in 2016 and started to attend HIF. Being the only believer in the family, she realized the need for the Gospel to be spread out into the world. Hoa previously worked for Play!Cafe and Hanesbrands Inc. in Hung Yen province then she decided to join the HIF office as staff. She considered it a privilege and opportunity to serve and sow in the lives of others in the ministries of HIF.
