YOUTH DIRECTOR, HIF ELDER, HIF ECOPARK LEAD PASTOR
Peter is a pastor, teacher, and encourager who loves helping people feel seen, known, and drawn closer to Jesus, preferably with a good suit, a good laugh, and the occasional impression along the way. He describes himself first and foremost as a child and servant of God, a proud Rotterdammer, and someone who genuinely enjoys people from all walks of life.
As Youth Director at HIF and Lead Elder at HIF Ecopark, Peter serves in two ministry spaces with one shared heartbeat: helping people know Jesus, grow as disciples, and find their place in God’s mission. At Ecopark, he shepherds the church through preaching, pastoral care, and leadership development. Through Aftershock, he serves teenagers from different nations and backgrounds, which also means navigating Gen Z vocabulary, an ongoing cross-cultural challenge he is still working through.
Peter’s journey with God has been one of grace and being drawn back. During his years in Vietnam, God brought him into a deeper and more personal relationship with Jesus through HIF, Alpha, and the faithful presence of community. Today he describes his walk as one of dependence, having learned that ministry cannot be sustained by gifting, personality, caffeine, or last-minute Canva designs alone. It requires prayer, the Word, and the grace of God.
Peter is married to Ha, who serves faithfully in worship and training. They live in Ecopark with their dog Biscuit, who played a surprisingly significant role in the HIF Ecopark church plant and has not yet received the historical credit Peter believes he deserves. Outside of ministry, Peter enjoys good conversations, comedy, football, and finding creative ways to explain deep truths without making people feel like they accidentally walked into a seminary lecture. He also carries a growing dream to see more churches planted across North Vietnam.
One lesson Peter carries with him: God is faithful even when we are not, and humility is one of the strongest qualities a person can carry. He has learned that people are rarely helped most by those who have it all together, but by those who are willing to serve, listen, and point others back to Jesus.
