Who we are
Aftershock is HIF’s dynamic youth ministry designed exclusively for students aged 11-17 or grades 6th-12th that aims to strengthen and empower young believers who are ready to make a lasting impact in their world. We are more than just a group of individuals; we are a collective force committed to living out our faith in bold and tangible ways. Aftershock Youth Ministry is not just about attending meetings; it’s about embracing a movement that challenges the status quo and empowers you to live out your faith fearlessly.
Mission, Vision, & Purpose
Mission
At Aftershock, we’re all about helping youth know and love Jesus. We guide them through biblical truth, encourage them to explore the Bible, support their journey with Jesus, welcome their questions, teach them how to handle life’s challenges using Scripture and prayer and empower them to share the good news with their peers and beyond.
Vision
Our vision is to empower Aftershock youth with knowledge and training that transcends their time in Hanoi, enabling them to carry the light of Jesus wherever they go. We aspire to see them flourish and making Jesus known, turning their new environments upside down in presenting the gospel through love and compassion.
“These who have turned the world upside down have come here too.”
-Acts 17:6 NKJV-
Purpose
To fulfill our mission and to attain our vision, we help our students to thrive in their faith. We aim to foster personal relationships with God through foundational teaching, dynamic worship, and powerful prayer. Additionally, we encourage students to build meaningful connections with their peers and adult leaders at Aftershock, and to positively impact the world around them.

Faq's for youth
- What age group does the Aftershock cater to?
Ages 11-17 or grades 6th -12th. - How often do you meet?
We meet every Friday, from 19:00-21:00. We encourage the youth to come at 18:30 so they have more time to mingle and connect with friends. - Is it necessary to register my child before he/she can participate in the Aftershock meetings?
Yes, it is necessary to register your child if they intend to participate in the Aftershock meetings consistently for the year or for an extended period of time. Registering ensures that we have the necessary contact information and can provide updates about events and activities. If your child only wants to visit Aftershock for their personal orientation or on an occasional basis, formal registration may not be required. However, we kindly request that you inform our youth director ahead of time at aftershock@hif.vn. - What safety measures are in place during Youth Ministry events and outings?
At Aftershock, we prioritize the safety and well-being of our youth. Our safety measures include background checks for volunteers, appropriate adult-to-youth ratios, trained staff, and emergency procedures. We ensure secure facilities, enforce a code of conduct, and maintain open communication with parents. Our commitment to safety ensures that all youth can participate with confidence, knowing we prioritize their well-being in everything we do.
- Are there opportunities for parental involvement in the Youth Ministry?
Absolutely! We value and encourage parental involvement. Parents are welcome to participate in various capacities, such as volunteering during retreats and outings. Additionally, every two months, we organize parents’ sessions to keep parents informed about our activities, upcoming events, answer questions they may have, and ways they can support their children’s spiritual growth. - Are there any retreats or special events planned for the Youth Ministry?
Yes, there are. We offer two retreats during the year – one in the Fall and one at the end of Spring. - Are there any service or volunteer opportunities for the youth to participate in?
Yes! There are plenty of service and volunteer opportunities available for our youth. They can become peer leaders, engage in media and social media ministries, participate in hospitality, and join outreach initiatives. These experiences not only contribute to the ministry but also foster personal growth and spiritual development. - Are there any costs associated with participating in the Youth Ministry?
Participation in our weekly youth nights is free. Costs apply only to optional youth retreats and outings, which are communicated in advance, and financial assistance options are available. - How can I reach out to the Youth Ministry leadership team if I have any questions or concerns?
