Jacob has served as HIF’s Lead Pastor since 2005. He also founded Love Your City and Love Hanoi, and serves as Catalyst for the Lausanne Movement’s Cities Network, helping start and strengthen urban mission networks around the world. Through these roles, he loves helping form a kaleidoscopic family of God on mission. Raised in a Christian home in Holland, Jacob made his own faith commitments from a young age. Today, he describes his walk with God as learning to “trust God’s will and wisdom more,” while staying open, listening, and continuing to grow. Jacob is married to Linda, and they have three adult children who were raised in Hanoi and are now serving the Lord, working, and establishing their own homes n the East Coast of the USA. Their family also includes Maisie, their Border Collie, and two cats. Outside of ministry, Jacob enjoys building community through pickleball, creating Christian hip-hop songs based on his sermons, and traveling. His bucket list includes exploring more cities and more of God’s creation with Linda.
