In September 2021, a small group of HIF’ers, seeking a deeper relationship with God and each other through the Holy Spirit, decided to read a book together. We chose Frank Laubach’s Letters by a Modern Mystic. Over the past few months, we have been amazed by how God has spoken to us through the book, as well as our sharing of reflections, ideas, and prayers with one another. This experience has been deeply nourishing, particularly in this time of isolation and weariness.
Since we finished Laubach’s book, we have decided to keep meeting, and we want to extend an invitation to you to read with us! Our next book will be Richard Foster’s Celebration of Discipline (please click on the link below).
Every other Monday at 8pm, beginning January 3, 2022, we will meet to discuss a chapter of the book [that gives two weeks to read each chapter]. We’ll start with the Introduction the first week, and Foster covers 12 disciplines, so generally speaking, leaving room for skipped weeks (we are very flexible), we’ll meet until about June 6.
If you’re looking to deepen your walk with Christ by incorporating more of His own practices into your daily life, with the help of a wise guide like Foster, and in conversation with your fellow HIF’ers, this is the reading experience for you!
